Polypropylene is a semi crystalline versatile thermo plastic resin. It is a linear structure based on the monomer CnH2n. It is manufactured from propylene gas in presence of a catalyst such as titanium chloride. Beside PP is a by- product of oil refining process.

The first polypropylene resin was produced by Professor Giulio Natta in Spain, although commercial production began in 1957.

1) Light in weight.
2) Excellent resistance to stress and high resistant to cracking (i.e. it has high tensile and compressive strength).
3) High operational temperatures with a melting point 160 C 
4) Excellent dielectric properties.
5) Non toxic.
6) Non staining.
7) Easy to produce, assembly and an economical material.
8) Low moisture absorption rate.
9) Resists most alkalis and acids.
  
It is an economical material that offers a combination of outstanding physical, chemical, mechanical, thermal and electrical properties not found in any other Thermoplastic.

Compared to low and high-density polyethylene it has lower impact strength but superior working temperature and tensile strength. 

It is attractive durable and above all environmentally friendly.
